When I think about my daily environment of work and home, I
have various types of support. At home, my husband provides me with love and
encouragement. His support and guidance allows me to know that I loved and
cared for by home. His encouragement motivates me to achieve my goals such as
going back to school. My children and family provides me with unconditional
love. This feeling helps me to strive to do better for them. At school, my colleagues are a big support.
These are people that I spend a lot of my time with. We support each other
professionally and personally. We give each other advice about various
situations. We help each other be the best at whatever the task is at hand. My
classroom is an example of a practical task needed to teach children. This environment
is an important support for student learning to occur. My own schema and
knowledge about children and teaching children is essential to the success of
my students. My knowledge helps me use the appropriate instructional strategies
and techniques for my students. My smartphone and laptop is a type of practical
support I need. I use these things to organize tasks, tasks, manage tasks, complete
tasks, and keep in contact with others.
A challenge that I can imagine where I would need support is
learning how to sew. Emotionally, I would need the support and encouragement of
my family and friends. I would need their support to motivate me to learn this
task. Practically, I would need a sewing machine, thread, fabric, and other
sewing materials. I would need these things in order to learn how to sew. I
would also need a place or space where I could sew. This will help me, as well
as, others define my sewing area. Physically, I would need someone to teach me
how to sew. This could be accomplished through a sewing class or a private
instructor. Learning to sew may be very
difficult without the listed support. It would be nearly impossible for me to
learn without any support or aid.
All types of support are needed to accomplish tasks daily in
our lives. We must never take for granted of others. We all must realize and
value the various types of support we need to live and survive daily in our lives.

Hi Trinecia,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, each and every day we need some form of support to be successful in our daily endeavors. As I read our other colleagues posts, we all listed family as our first form of support system. Family is the foundation of what drives and motivates us to become successful achievers. They serve as our first example of unconditional love, acceptance, and belonging.
As I think about this, my heart breaks for children that have lost or been taken from their family due to illness, death, and/or any other tragedy. Children in the system, whether in group homes, foster care, or institutions have a very difficult time because they lack these much needed support systems. Most of us stated that it would be difficult and maybe even impossible to survive and/or be successful without a support system.
Also, sewing is not only a great hobby, but can be a very rewarding career. I use to sew many years ago. I learned from my grandmother, may she rest in peace, and aunt who still sew. I enjoyed it very much, but it is very time consuming and now my machine is collecting dust. Now that you have mentioned sewing, I may pull it back out...well maybe after I finish school. Learning is not that difficult, but be warned...family will begin to depend on you for all their tailoring needs.
